Accountant at Total Child School

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Agbara, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate financial records in line with accounting standards
• Prepare monthly, termly, and annual financial reports
• Monitor income and expenditure to ensure alignment with budget
• Support audit processes (internal and external).

Fee Administration:

• Manage student billing and school fee collection processes
• Track outstanding fees and follow up on payments
• Reconcile fee payments with bank records
• Generate financial statements for parents upon request.

Budgeting & Planning:

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts
• Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis
• Advise management on cost control and financial efficiency.

Payroll & Staff Payments:

• Process staff salaries, allowances, and statutory deductions
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations (PAYE, pensions, etc.)
• Maintain payroll records and resolve discrepancies.

Compliance & Controls:

• Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements
• Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions
• Implement and monitor internal control systems.

Procurement & Expense Management:

• Review and process purchase requests and payments
• Ensure value for money in procurement activities
• Maintain vendor records and manage payments to suppliers.

Banking & Reconciliation:

• Manage bank transactions and cash flow
• Perform regular bank reconciliations
• Monitor cash handling procedures within the school.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is an added advantage
• Minimum of 3–5 years accounting experience (school experience preferred)
• Strong knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Good understanding of Nigerian tax and financial regulations.
