Job Title: Engine Room Operator

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly competent and experienced Engine Room Operator to support safe and efficient engine room operations on offshore installations.
• The ideal candidate will have hands-on engine room experience, demonstrate strong technical expertise in marine/mechanical systems, and hold a valid Officer of the Watch (OOW) Engineering Certificate of Competence.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain engine room machinery and auxiliary systems in line with operational standards and safety regulations.
• Ensure continuous and efficient functioning of engines, pumps, compressors, and related mechanical systems.
• Conduct routine inspections, fault detection, and basic troubleshooting of engine room equipment.
• Maintain accurate logs of operations, maintenance activities, and incidents.
• Support planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programs and corrective maintenance tasks.
• Adhere strictly to HSE policies, procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
• Assist in emergency response situations, including equipment failure, fire, or shutdown scenarios.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and technical teams to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company operational procedures.

Qualifications

• Valid OOW Engineering Certificate of Competence (Mandatory)
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Engine Room Officer
• Proven engine room experience (offshore/marine)
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, generators & auxiliary systems
• Good troubleshooting skills & HSE awareness.
