Market Priest Foods is a new food production company in the heart of Agege. Into production of plantain chips, chin chin and other snacks.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Chef / Production Manager

Location: Agege, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

  • The Chef / Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire food production process, ensuring high-quality output, maintaining hygiene standards, managing production staff, and optimizing efficiency to meet business demand and profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Management:

  • Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
  • Ensure timely production of all food items (e.g., plantain chips, chin chin, etc.).
  • Monitor raw material usage and minimize waste.
  • Ensure consistent product taste, texture, and quality.

Recipe & Product Standardization:

  • Develop and standardize recipes for all products.
  • Maintain exact measurements and processes for consistency.
  • Introduce new product ideas or improve existing ones.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure all products meet company quality standards before distribution.
  • Conduct routine taste, texture, and packaging checks.
  • Monitor shelf-life and storage conditions.

Hygiene & Food Safety Compliance:

  • Enforce strict cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (NAFDAC standards where applicable).
  • Train staff on proper hygiene and food handling.

Staff Supervision:

  • Supervise production staff (assistants, fryers, packagers, marketers).
  • Assign tasks and monitor performance.
  • Train and discipline staff when necessary.

Inventory & Cost Control:

  • Monitor stock levels of raw materials and packaging items.
  • Work with procurement to ensure timely supply.
  • Control production costs and reduce wastage.

Equipment Management:

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen/production equipment.
  • Report faults and coordinate repairs.

Packaging & Presentation:

  • Ensure products are properly packaged, sealed, and labeled.
  • Maintain brand standards in packaging and presentation.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Keep daily production records (quantity produced, waste, etc.).
  • Report production performance, challenges, and improvements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef or in food production
  • Strong knowledge of food processing and preservation
  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and targets.
