Job Title: General Technician
Location: Maitama, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time
Main Functions
- The General Technician is responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, repairs, and technical support across the hotel’s facilities and equipment to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations.
- The role covers basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building maintenance tasks while ensuring safety and operational standards are maintained.
- The ideal candidate must be technically skilled, proactive, and capable of handling a wide range of maintenance issues in a hospitality environment.
Role Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of hotel facilities and equipment.
- Handle basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
- Troubleshoot faults and carry out corrective maintenance promptly.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and within set timelines.
Preventive Maintenance:
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance for equipment and facilities.
- Identify potential faults and address them before they escalate.
- Maintain maintenance schedules and logs.
Facility Upkeep:
- Ensure the hotel environment is well-maintained, clean, and functional.
- Carry out minor renovations, painting, and general upkeep tasks.
- Ensure guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities are in good condition.
Equipment Handling and Safety:
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Follow safety procedures during all maintenance activities.
- Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions.
Coordination and Support:
- Respond to maintenance requests from various departments promptly.
- Coordinate with specialized technicians (AC, electrical, plumbing) when required.
- Support installation of new equipment and systems.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain records of maintenance work carried out.
- Report major faults, repairs, and maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Track usage of materials and spare parts.
Emergency Response:
- Respond to urgent maintenance issues such as power failure, water leakage, or equipment breakdown.
- Support emergency procedures and ensure quick resolution of technical faults.
Experience / Qualifications
- Minimum of an OND or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, or related fields
- 5 - 8 years experience in maintenance or technical roles, preferably in a hotel or facility environment
- Trade certification or vocational training is an added advantage
- Basic knowledge of safety standards and maintenance practices

- Ability to use maintenance tools and equipment
