We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Junior Electrical Engineer

Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose

  • The Junior Electrical Engineer will support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation, and basic automation systems across refinery, solvent extraction, utilities, and packaging facilities.
  • The role provides hands-on exposure to industrial electrical and automation systems, ensuring plant reliability, safety, and process continuity under the supervision of senior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical and basic automation faults in PLC systems, sensors, transmitters, and control loops under supervision.
  • Support preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Assist senior engineers during PLC program modifications, interlock checks, and process optimization tasks.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and basic SCADA architecture.
  • Support maintenance of MCCs, PCCs, transformers, VFDs, and power distribution systems.
  • Assist in maintaining spares inventory for electrical and automation components.
  • Participate in erection, testing, commissioning, and shutdown maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures and Nigerian statutory regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, fault reports, and work records.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Electrical & Instrumentation Manager or Supervisor.

Education & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Age: Maximum 35 years
  • Basic knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and industrial automation systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, etc.).
  • Foundational understanding of automation troubleshooting, including sensors, transmitters, I/O modules, and control loops.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems such as MCC, PCC, HT/LT panels, transformers, VFDs, and switchgear.
  • Good computer literacy, including MS Office and basic AutoCAD (Electrical).

Experience

  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience in electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance within refinery, solvent extraction, FMCG, or process industries.
  • Experience in manufacturing or utilities environments is an added advantage.
  • Exposure to plant erection, testing, commissioning, or shutdown activities is desirable.
  • Basic familiarity with utilities such as DG sets, boilers, WTP, ETP, or packaging line automation is a plus.

Additional Information

  • Candidates are urgently required to resume on site within 1-2 weeks.
  • Role is strictly on-site and may involve shift work or shutdown support.
