Job Title: Head of Security

Location: Senegal

Job Description

  • The Head of Security reports hierarchically to the Director of Human Resources and operates under the functional supervision of the Group Head of Security.
  • He is responsible for the implementation, application and operational management of the Group's security strategy at the site level, in accordance with the defined policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.
  • It ensures the overall coordination of all safety and security activities covering the plant, the mine and related infrastructure, in a holistic, structured and risk-based approach, integrating physical, human, technical and organizational dimensions.
  • He is the site's security focal point, ensuring the protection of people, assets, facilities, sensitive information and business continuity, in compliance with local legal requirements and Dangote Cement Senegal standards.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Implement the Group's defined security strategy at the local level.
  • Deploy and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure the ongoing alignment of local practices with Group requirements.
  • Coordinate all site security activities and ensure a clear and efficient organization.
  • Supervise internal security teams and external service providers.
  • Ensure close collaboration with Human Resources, HSE, Operations, and Site Management.
  • Conduct regular security risk assessments (plant, mine, access routes, sensitive areas).
  • Identify vulnerabilities and propose corrective action plans.
  • Monitor the implementation of approved prevention measures.
  • Supervise access control systems, patrols, rounds, and guard posts.
  • Ensure the deployment and proper functioning of CCTV systems.
  • Oversee the improvement of emergency lighting and deterrent infrastructure.
  • Coordinate the deployment of armed security, when required and authorized.
  • Implement measures to prevent theft, intrusion, and malicious acts, particularly concerning fuel and critical equipment.
  • Lead security investigations and inquiries.
  • Ensure the immediate reporting of major incidents to the HR Director and the Group Head of Security.
  • Supervise, monitor, and evaluate security providers.
  • Ensure strict compliance with contracts, staffing levels, equipment, and procedures.
  • Produce monthly activity reports for service providers.
  • Adapt and implement security procedures as needed.
  • Contribute to the implementation of crisis management and business continuity plans.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Organize security training and awareness programs (security officers, staff, clients, etc.).
  • Develop a proactive and disciplined security culture.
  • Conduct practical exercises and incident simulations.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly security reports.
  • Monitor security performance indicators and propose continuous improvements.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Senior officer or experienced manager from the security forces or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in industrial, mining, or sensitive site security.
  • Proven experience in managing teams and contractors.
  • Valid driver's license required. 

Skills and competencies:

  • Leadership, authority, strong sense of ethics and confidentiality.
  • Ability to analyze risks and manage critical situations.
  • Excellent organizational and writing skills.
