Job Title: Quality Engineer – Pipeline Projects (Oil & Gas Services)

Location: Warri, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Summary

  • The Quality Engineer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the quality management system on pipeline projects for an oil and gas service company.
  • The role ensures that all pipeline construction, installation, testing and commissioning activities comply with project specifications, industry codes/standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Project Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), procedures and checklists for pipeline projects in line with ISO 9001 and relevant ASME/API standards.
  • Plan and execute quality control activities on pipeline construction and installation: material receiving inspections, welding inspections, coating/painting checks, fit‑up and dimensional checks, hydrotesting, pigging, reinstatement and final walk‑through.
  • Review and approve welding procedures (WPS/PQR), welder qualifications, NDT procedures and reports; coordinate NDT activities (RT, UT, MT, PT) with approved vendors.
  • Ensure all construction and testing activities comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g. ASME B31.4/B31.8, API, company specs) and client specifications.
  • Monitor contractors’ and subcontractors’ quality performance; carry out surveillance, spot checks and formal quality audits on site.
  • Identify, document and manage non‑conformances (NCRs); lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain proper quality documentation and records, including ITPs, checklists, calibration certificates, test reports, welding/NDT records and as‑built dossiers.
  • Participate in pre‑inspection meetings (PIM), construction review meetings, punch list walk‑downs and mechanical completion/handover processes.
  • Liaise with client representatives, third‑party inspectors and internal project teams (engineering, construction, HSE) on quality‑related matters.
  • Support continuous improvement of quality processes and promote a strong quality culture on project sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Minimum of10 years’ proven experiencein quality/QAQC roles on pipeline projects within the oil and gas servicing or EPC/EPCI environment.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline construction/installation methods, welding, NDT, coating, hydrotesting and pre‑commissioning activities.
  • Good understanding of applicable standards and codes (e.g. ISO 9001, ASME B31.4/B31.8, API, relevant client/company specs).
  • Hands‑on experience in developing and implementing Project Quality Plans, ITPs and QA/QC procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience managing NCRs, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to work with electronic document management systems.​
  • Strong communication, documentation and interpersonal skills; able to interface effectively with clients, contractors and site teams.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g. ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, CSWIP, NDT Level II) will be an added advantage.
