We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Furniture Maker

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Core Responsibilities

  • Design & Planning: Study blueprints, technical drawings, or sketches to plan production, calculate material needs, and determine required techniques.
  • Fabrication: Cut, shape, and form wood or metal components using tools such as lathes, power saws, mortisers, and sanders.
  • Assembly: Join parts using glue, screws, dowels, or fasteners to assemble furniture frames and components.
  • Finishing: Apply stains, paints, varnishes, or polishes to finished products, and upholster or add hardware like hinges, mirrors, or handles.
  • Restoration/Repair: Restore antique furniture or repair damaged pieces to their original condition.
  • Quality Control: Ensure high-quality standards in every piece, following safety protocols in a workshop or factory environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Generally requires experience in woodworking, carpentry, or a related furniture-making trade.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using hand tools and industrial machinery.
  • Physical Stamina:Ability to handle, lift, and maneuver heavy materials, as well as stand, bend, and move for long periods.
  • Attention to Detail: High precision in measuring, cutting, and assembling to ensure structural integrity.
  • Technical Drawing Reading: Ability to interpret complex design specifications.

Work Environment:

  • Furniture makers work in varied settings, including small, customized craft workshops, factory production lines, or as self-employed artisans.
  • The work is often physically demanding and requires consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to manage dust and chemical finishes.
