Tonia Pharmacy Limited was incorporated in the year 2003 (RC: 497235) to carry on business as a pharmaceutical company. Since inception, the company has grown to become one of the reputable pharmacies in Nigeria, with several branches located within FCT ABUJA.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Cashier

Location: All Branches, Nigeria
Department: Finance / Retail Operations
Reports To: Branch Manager / Superintendent Pharmacist.

Job Summary

  • The Cashier is responsible for handling all financial transactions within the pharmacy and superstore in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
  • The role involves receiving payments, issuing receipts, maintaining cash accountability, and ensuring excellent customer service while complying with company policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
Transaction Processing:

  • Receive and process payments (cash, POS, transfers) for goods and services.
  • Accurately issue receipts and invoices to customers.
  • Ensure correct pricing, discounts, and promotions are applied.
  • Balance cash register at the beginning and end of each shift.

Customer Service:

  • Greet customers warmly and attend to them in a professional manner.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding products, prices, and store policies.
  • Handle customer complaints politely and escalate when necessary.
  • Maintain a friendly and welcoming checkout environment.

Cash Handling & Accountability:

  • Maintain proper custody of cash and prevent shortages or overages.
  • Perform daily cash reconciliation and report discrepancies immediately.
  • Ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the system.
  • Safeguard POS machines and other financial tools.

Sales Support:

  • Support sales activities by promoting ongoing offers and products.
  • Cross-sell and upsell pharmacy and supermarket items where appropriate.
  • Assist customers in locating products when necessary.

Record Keeping & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate transaction records and daily sales reports.
  • Prepare end-of-day financial summaries.
  • Assist in stock documentation when required.

Compliance & Controls:

  • Adhere strictly to company financial policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Prevent fraud, theft, or misuse of company resources.

Store Operations Support:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cashier area.
  • Assist in stock arrangement and shelf monitoring when required.
  • Support inventory counts and audits when assigned.

  • Accuracy in transactions (zero or minimal errors)
  • Daily cash balancing compliance
  • Customer satisfaction ratings
  • Speed and efficiency of service
  • Reduction in cash discrepancies
  • Upselling contribution to sales.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of HND / BSc Degree (additional qualifications are an advantage)
  • Proven experience as a cashier or in a retail environment (pharmacy experience is an added advantage)
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles
  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
