We are recruiting to fill position below:

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Location: Abuja
Job Type: Full time

Job Description

  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, cutting and portioning ingredients.
  • Keep kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils clean and sanitized in line with hygiene standards.
  • Wash pots, pans, dishes and trays and ensure they are properly stored after drying.
  • Help in plating and garnishing dishes during busy service periods under the chef’s supervision.
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking and storing deliveries in fridges, freezers and dry stores.
  • Rotate stock and label food items to ensure proper FIFO usage and minimise wastage.
  • Remove refuse from the kitchen and ensure proper segregation and disposal.
  • Support buffet setups by refilling chafing dishes and ensuring serving utensils are available.
  • Follow all food safety, PPE and personal hygiene rules while on duty.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards or accidents to the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor immediately.
  • Assist with deepcleaning schedules for ovens, fridges, floors and other kitchen areas.
  •  Help in preparing staff meals where applicable.
  • Support room service and event operations as directed by the Chef.
  • Participate in kitchen briefings and trainings when scheduled.
  • Perform any other kitchenrelated tasks assigned to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations (HACCP preferred)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and reliability
  • Basic English communication skills.
