Job Title: Head of Transport

Job Summary
- Our client is seeking a Head of Transport to lead their fleet and logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily fleet operations, including dispatch, planning, and workshop management.
- Maintain at least 90% fleet operational readiness and optimize route planning for efficiency.
- Develop and implement contingency and business continuity plans for transport operations.
- Monitor and report on key KPIs, including fleet utilization, cost efficiency, delivery performance, and staff productivity.
- Implement and manage GPS/telematics systems to enhance fleet monitoring and performance.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and ensure compliance with vehicle documentation and regulatory requirements.
- Track and improve fleet profitability, revenue per truck, and cost per kilometer.
- Lead, manage, and develop the transport team, driving performance, coaching, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Ensure compliance with HSE and other regulatory standards.
- Develop and execute business development strategies to grow B2B logistics operations and expand market share.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key clients to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Develop pricing models, commercial proposals, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, strategy, etc.) to strengthen competitive positioning.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in transport, logistics, or fleet management, with proven leadership experience.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize transport operations and improve efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation systems, fleet operations, and supply chain processes.
- Experience with telematics/GPS tracking systems, ERP systems, and fleet monitoring tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Expertise in budgeting, cost control, and financial performance management.
- Strong leadership, people management, and team development skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of lean methodologies, process improvement techniques, and project management principles.
- Strong negotiation and commercial acumen with a strategic and hands-on execution mindset.
- High integrity, emotional intelligence, dependability, and an innovative mindset.
- Experience in international or cross-border logistics is an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel frequently (up to 60%).
