Our work includes supporting cases of wrongful convictions, assisting with appeals, and working alongside legal professionals to challenge injustice and secure fair outcomes. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Volunteer Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Volunteer

Job Description / Responsibilities

• Prepare and appeal cases of wrongful conviction.
• Provide pro bono legal support to underprivileged individuals.
• Collaborate with top UK law firms i.e Reed Smith on specific legal projects.
• Mentor junior legal volunteers and paralegals where necessary.

Requirements

• Qualified Senior Advocate in Nigeria.
• LLB, BL is essential. LLM is desirable but not essential.
• Submit judgements of cases personally handled, not just filed.
• Cases must show complexity & depth not routine matters.

Experience:

• Extensive experience at Senior Advocate (SAN) level.
• At least 7-10 yrs post-call experience.
• Demonstrate a stong number of contested cases in superior courts.
• Demonstrate active participation in High Court, Appeal & Supreme Court.

Skills:

• Expertise in appeal, litigation and courtroom procedures.
• Strong legal research and case preparation skills.
• Ability to work independently and remotely.
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.
