Job Title: Accountant

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full Time
Reports To: Head of Finance / Accounts Manager

Job Summary

  • Afripoint Group is seeking a competent and detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial records, support budgeting processes, and ensure full compliance with statutory and internal financial regulations across the Group and its subsidiaries.
  • The ideal candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, payroll administration, cost control, and audit support, contributing to the organization’s financial stability and growth.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Generate income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support management decisions

Budgeting & Cost Control:

  • Assist in the preparation of group-wide budgets
  • Monitor expenses against budgets and report variances
  • Support cost optimization across departments and subsidiaries

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments
  • Track receivables and follow up on outstanding payments
  • Maintain accurate ledger records

Payroll & Statutory Compliance:

  • Support payroll preparation and ensure accuracy
  • Implement and monitor PAYE and pension deductions (Nigeria compliant)
  • Ensure timely remittance of statutory obligations (VAT, WHT, PAYE, Pension)

Bank & Account Reconciliation:

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain proper cash flow tracking

Audit & Internal Controls:

  • Maintain proper documentation for audits
  • Support internal and external audit processes
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies

Asset & Financial Records Management:

  • Maintain asset register and depreciation schedules
  • Track company assets across locations
  • Ensure proper record keeping and filing systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2–5 years relevant accounting experience
  • Experience working in a multi-entity or group structure is an advantage

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Good understanding of Nigerian tax laws and statutory requirements
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
