The Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN) is a Faith-Based Non-Governmental Organization established in 1973 by the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), and the Northern Christian Medical Advisory Council (NCMAC). Its vision is to deliver comprehensive and responsive healthcare to all individuals, while its mission focuses on providing efficient services through the capacity building of member institutions and collaboration with partners to enhance health outcomes across Nigeria and beyond.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: LGA Consultant (CHAN-UNICEF ZERO-DOSE IT Project)

Locations: Abuja, Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Kebbi, Lagos, Niger, Ogun, and Ondo
Job Type: Full Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the State consultant in implementing all approved work plan
  • Support the LGA Health Educators to implement all the activities within the approved workplan and budget within the assigned LGA
  • Support the implementation of all meetings with faith leaders, PTAs, influencers, WDCs, and partners.
  • Document number of wards with functional defaulter tracking mechanisms
  • Support advocacy events and SBC activities at the ward level.
  • Finance retirements for all activities.
  • Document all activities per workplan.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with LGA officials, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent CHAN at LGA health meetings, review sessions, and planning forums.
  • Facilitate dialogue between health facilities, communities, and local government authorities.
  • Support advocacy efforts for improved health policy implementation at grassroots level.

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting from LGA-level activities.
  • Ensure timely submission of program reports to State consultant.

Educational Requirement, Skills & Expertise

  • Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or CHO/CHEW with reasonable field experience.
  • 3–5 years’ field experience in community mobilization and ACSM activities.
  • Strong facilitation and community engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with LGA health systems and actors.
  • Familiarity with the local context and sociocultural dynamics.
  • Skills in administrative, logistics, and financial management are CRITICAL.
  • Willingness to be engaged immediately.

  • Weekly ward-level mobilization reports.
  • All activity and meeting reports, and retirements.
  • Monthly LGA implementation report.
  • Feedback logs from community dialogues.
  • Reports of all advocacy visits and community engagements.
