Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an International, Private, Non-Governmental, Non-Profit Humanitarian Organization. Our organisation offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters, to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. We have been working in Nigeria facilitated by a Memorandum of Understanding between Medecins Sans Frontieres and the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The French Section are at present co-operating with the Federal Ministry of Health, and State and Local government departments of health on various health projects. Our current focus is the VVF/Emergency Obstetrics Project in Jigawa State, the Provision of Primary Health Care in Borno State, and the Nutrition Project in Katsina State with coordination office in Abuja, Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Physiotherapist Supervisor

Location: Katsina
Employment Type: Contract

Responsibilities 

  • Provide safe and quality physiotherapy care to patients, including assessment, development of individualized rehabilitation plans, and implementation of appropriate treatments, in line with MSF protocols, guidelines, and ethical standards
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of physiotherapy activities, including patient files, registers, and reporting tools, to maintain proper traceability and continuity of care
  • Provide education to patients and caregivers, promoting active participation in the rehabilitation process and ensuring understanding of home-based care
  • Ensure accurate data collection and reporting, including timely data entry and proper maintenance of records, in accordance with internal requirements
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (medical, nursing, nutrition, mental health, and health promotion teams), participating in meetings, case discussions, and joint follow-up to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Ensure proper management of physiotherapy equipment and materials, including correct use, cleaning in line MSF IPC standards, stock monitoring, and timely requests to the supervisor
  • Report any relevant information or incidents to the supervisor, including clinical concerns, operational issues, and any loss, damage, or theft of equipment or medical items
  • Provide orthopedic treatment and prevention in malnutrition
  • Assess malnourished patients to determine their neuromotor status
  • Implement neuromotor exercises using play-based activities
  • Lead group stimulation sessions
  • Support and strengthen caregivers’ ability to promote their child’s development.
