Job Title: HSE & QA / QC Officer (Building Construction)

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description

• We are seeking a highly experienced and self-driven HSE & QA/QC Officer to serve as the sole dedicated professional responsible for all Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control activities on our construction site.
• The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of site safety management and construction quality systems within a single role.

Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

• Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific HSE plans, risk assessments, and safety procedures
• Conduct daily site safety inspections, hazard identification, and toolbox talks for all workers
• Manage PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) compliance across all personnel and subcontractors
• Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents; prepare and submit HSE reports to management
• Maintain all HSE documentation, including permits-to-work, risk registers, and incident logs
• Ensure full compliance with OHSAS ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 standards
• Deliver safety inductions to all new workers and subcontractors before site access

Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC):

• Implement and enforce QA/QC procedures across all stages of construction
• Inspect concrete batching, mixing, pouring, and curing processes for compliance with specifications
• Review and verify materials, method statements, and material submittals for quality compliance
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship meets approved drawings and standards
• Identify non-conformances, raise NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and ensure timely close-out
• Maintain complete QA/QC documentation, test records, and inspection reports
• Coordinate with structural engineers, project managers, and contractors on quality requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Construction Management, or a related field —mandatory
• Must hold a degree and have direct experience in the building/construction industry
• Must have 5–7 years of combined experience in HSE and QA/QC roles on construction sites
• Demonstrated ability to manage both safety and quality functions independently.
