Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Summary

  • The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing daily accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting in compliance with local and international standards.
  • This includes oversight of accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and the monthly and annual closing processes and reporting.
  • The role also involves preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations, coordinating with auditors and regulatory bodies, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Strong internal controls must be maintained in alignment with AmSpec’s global standards, while ensuring timely and accurate reporting to the regional finance team.

Main duties

  • Supervise daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with local and international accounting standards.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
  • Prepare financial statements and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations (VAT, NBT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, etc.) and handle statutory filings.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and financial procedures in alignment with AmSpec's global standards.
  • Coordinate with the regional finance team and ensure smooth financial reporting to head office.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure data integrity within accounting systems

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Full or part qualification in ICA / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent
  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in accounting, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of local tax laws and accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with accounting software/ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working in a multinational or global reporting environment is a plus.
