Job Title: Financial Controller

Location: Maitama, Abuja (FCT)

Role Overview

  • We are seeking a high-calibre Financial Controller to lead financial governance, risk management, and operational finance within a fast-growing real estate investment and construction business.
  • This role is designed for a dynamic, detail-oriented finance leader with a strong grounding in audit, corporate assurance, and financial operations, ideally from a Big 4 background.
  • The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making, while building robust financial systems to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Control:

  • Oversee end-to-end financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial statements and management reports.
  • Implement strong internal controls across all financial processes.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and capital allocation strategies.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Identify financial and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory, tax, and statutory requirements.
  • Strengthen governance frameworks and financial control systems.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and financial institutions.

Audit & Assurance:

  • Lead internal audit processes and coordinate external audit engagements.
  • Drive audit readiness and ensure zero material audit findings.
  • Establish and maintain robust audit trails and documentation standards.
  • Implement best practices from corporate assurance environments.

Strategic Finance & Business Partnering:

  • Provide financial insights to support executive decision-making and investment strategies.
  • Evaluate project viability, ROI, and financial performance of real estate developments.
  • Partner with leadership on business expansion, cost optimization, and profitability.
  • Support funding strategies, investor reporting, and financial structuring.

Process Improvement & Leadership:

  • Build and optimize scalable financial systems and reporting frameworks.
  • Lead and mentor finance team members to deliver high performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance, audit, and risk functions.

Requirements
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional certification required (e.g., ACA, ACCA)
  • Minimum of 6–10 years’ experience in finance, audit, or risk management
  • Strong preference for candidates with Big 4 experience (KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, EY)
  • Experience in real estate, construction, or investment environments is highly desirable
