Description

  • We are seeking an experienced, driven, and detail-oriented Assistant Manager, Clearing & Forwarding to join our operations team in Lagos.

What You Will Do

  • As Assistant Manager, you will be a key operational leader within APMDC's Clearing & Forwarding division. 
  • Leading day-to-day operations across customs documentation, tariff classification, and duty payment processing — ensuring accuracy, compliance, and speed at every step.
  • Serving as APMDC's primary liaison with the Nigeria Customs Service, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and relevant government agencies to facilitate seamless, timely cargo release.
  • Mentoring and managing junior operational staff within the Clearing & Forwarding unit, building team capacity and maintaining high performance standards.
  • Overseeing shipment schedules and bonded warehouse transfers, providing clients with full end-to-end cargo visibility and proactive communication at every milestone.
  • Ensuring full regulatory compliance with all applicable trade regulations, current import/export legislation, with zero tolerance for deviation.
  • Preparing and presenting operational reports to senior management, contributing data-driven insights to strategic decision-making.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills — you lead by example and bring your team along.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities — you can hold a room with NCS officials and C-suite clients alike.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines without dropping the ball.
  • Proficiency in freight and logistics management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
