We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • To effectively manage and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, verified, and compliant with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • To support the organization’s financial integrity by monitoring income and expenditures, reconciling accounts, and identifying discrepancies for timely resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers, journals, and supporting documents.
  • Record all financial transactions and ensure proper documentation and authorization.
  • Perform daily bookkeeping activities such as posting invoices, receipts, and expenses.
  • Ensure proper filing and documentation of all financial records for easy retrieval and audit purposes.
  • Manage accounts payable by verifying invoices, preparing expense schedules, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Prepare payment vouchers and process payments in line with approval limits.
  • Process payments and prepare bank instructions in line with approved mandates.
  • Liaise with bank officers on transactions, reconciliations, and inquiries.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist in preparing management reports and financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
  • Prepare and file accurate and timely tax returns in compliance with local regulations.
  • Ensure proper remittance of statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, VAT, WHT, Pension).
  • Assist in audit preparation by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Utilize accounting software effectively for financial recording and reporting.
  • Conduct basic financial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Relevant professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA – added advantage)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience in accounting or finance, with hands-on experience in financial reporting, bookkeeping, and transaction processing.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
