Job Title: Logistics Technician
Location: Anambra
Main Purpose
- Perform autonomously and follow up on the maintenance and proper repair of equipment within the project/mission, ensuring that routine logistical maintenance and cleaning are carried out according to MSF standards and procedures, to keep all equipment in optimal working condition.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform autonomously all necessary complex and advanced installations, maintenance, and repairs (i.e. requiring special qualifications or training) according to the supervisor’s instructions, and carry out all required tests after any repair or maintenance. This includes the following functions:
- Qualified Electrician
- Qualified Mechanic
- Biomedical Technician
- Make suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed on MSF electrical installations, equipment, and/or vehicles, and assist the logistics department with related tasks.
- Manage the stock of consumable items by updating stock cards, conducting physical inventories, and placing orders to replenish stock and prevent shortages.
- Be responsible for equipment and tools, including fire extinguishers, ensuring they are used correctly and safely, maintained properly, replaced when necessary, and accurately recorded in the inventory.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Ensure that all record sheets and logs related to logistical maintenance are properly completed. Prepare reports before and after any repair or maintenance work, and immediately inform the line manager of any issues arising during work, particularly damage, loss, theft, or attempted break-ins.
- Work in collaboration with other specialized technicians and workers when necessary, or supervise a small team of workers.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
- Supervise and support users of technical equipment (biomedical, electrical, cold chain, construction, etc.).
- Carry out inventories of electrical and biomedical stock in coordination with the Supply team.
- Train the logistics team on best practices.
- Improve user autonomy in the operation and basic maintenance of biomedical equipment within the project.
- Ensure daily monitoring of breakdowns and maintenance of ITFC and ATFC biomedical devices.
- Implement standard biomedical management procedures and provide user training accordingly.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) guidelines.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review the schedule of technical activities.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of MSF electrical systems (desired).
- Demonstrate good knowledge of construction and ensure proper follow-up.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of plumbing.
- Support the Logistics Supervisor in daily tasks and serve as backup when required.
- AutoCAD proficiency is a desired skill.
Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications
Education
- Essential: Engineering degree (Bachelor’s in electrical, Mechanical, Civil and other relevant Field) and/or all recognise MSF Trainings in the assigned Technical Area.
Experience
- Essential: Minimum of two years specialized Logistics experienced.
- Desirable: Previous experience with MSF or other NGO in a developing-country context is an added advantage.
Languages
- English Language essential.
