Job Title: Deputy Chief Technology Officer

- The Deputy CTO serves as the technical second-in-command, ensuring continuity, stability, and strategic execution across all IT functions. The Deputy CTO drives operational excellence, strengthens governance, and ensures that technology initiatives are delivered with speed, accuracy, and alignment with the business.
- This role provides hands-on leadership for infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives, and serves as the primary escalation point when the CTO is unavailable.
Job Details
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across IT infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Act as second-in-command to the CTO, ensuring continuity of decision-making and seamless execution of technical priorities.
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations to ensure system reliability, security, and performance across the organization.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for technical issues, ensuring timely resolution and effective stakeholder communication.
- Support the development and implementation of enterprise technology roadmaps, standards, and governance frameworks.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver technology projects on schedule and in alignment with business objectives.
- Strengthen cybersecurity policies, controls, and monitoring to safeguard organizational assets.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, cost optimization, and service delivery.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for IT teams to build capability and technical depth.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and business units to ensure technology platforms support current and future business needs.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and vendors to support innovation and infrastructure modernization.
- Prepare and oversee budgets, forecasts, and resource allocations for IT operations and projects.
Qualifications
- HND or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
- Relevant professional certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, CISM, AWS/Azure certifications, or equivalent are preferred. Professional certifications such as FRM, CRISC, IRM, ERM, CIA, CFA, CISA, ISO 31000 are highly desirable.
- 8–12 years of progressive experience in IT leadership, infrastructure management, software development, or related technical fields.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional IT teams and managing complex technology environments.
- Demonstrated success in delivering enterprise-wide technology projects and digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong background in cybersecurity, systems architecture, and IT service management.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth, or technology-driven organization.
- Strong analytical and scenario-modelling skills.
- Solid leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, network systems, cloud platforms, and application ecosystems.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Proficiency with enterprise architecture, integration platforms, and modern development practices.
- Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and translate them into business opportunities.
- Proactive, decisive, and able to influence at the highest levels.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially under pressure.
- High level of communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with operational discipline and a high sense of ownership. Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder expectations effectively.
