Role Overview

  • We are hiring a Resident Internal Control Officer (RICO) for a digital microfinance bank based in Benue State. This role is suited for a detail-focused professional with strong control, compliance, and risk management experience within the financial services sector.
  • You will oversee internal control processes, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and strengthen risk management practices across operations. The role requires both on-site presence and remote support under a hybrid work structure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce internal control policies and procedures
  • Conduct routine and surprise control checks across operations
  • Identify control gaps and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal policies
  • Review transactions and flag irregularities or potential risks
  • Prepare periodic control and audit reports
  • Support fraud prevention and investigation activities
  • Liaise with relevant units to ensure prompt resolution of control issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • 2–5 years’ experience in internal control, audit, or compliance within a bank or financial institution
  • Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks and risk management practices
  • Good understanding of digital banking operations is an advantage
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
