The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

About the role

  • GAIN is seeking to recruit a Procurement Manager to lead the procurement function of the GAIN Nigeria country office to effectively support programme implementation and country office operations.
  • This role leads procurement policy development and ensures effective compliance to the procurement guidelines. The Procurement Manager will serve as the primary contact and procurement lead of the country office. 
  • This role will be offered on two (2) years fixed term contract, subject to securing the award and availability of funding and will be based in Abuja.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Lead the GAIN Nigeria procurement function ensuring value for money, ethical procurement practices, and compliance to GAIN policy and procedure and national regulations.
  • Consolidate, and maintain procurement plans for the purchase of equipment, goods, services, and supplies for the office and projects, and monitor the procurement process and adherence to plans.
  • Develop procurement tracking system and support program and management team with up-to-date and reliable information on the procurement status.
  • Act as a senior resource for supporting wider global GAIN procurement policy and practice development and capacity building, including targeted support to other GAIN countries and offices where appropriate.
  • Identify, Research, and Evaluate potential suppliers as well reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility.
  • Conduct market surveys for procurement planning and budgeting.
  • Maintain and update supplier information such as qualifications, supplier quality assessments, delivery times, product ranges, etc. and maintain suppliers’ database with catalogues of various products and prices.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate procurement-related risks.
  • Manage and oversee organizational leases, including office space, warehouses, and equipment, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
  • Monitor contract performance, deliverables, and expiration dates, and proactively manage renewals and close-outs.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit-ready procurement records using GAIN procurement and contracting systems.  

About you:

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong background in leading procurement functions within an INGO hands-on experience managing end-to-end procurement and supply chain functions, with a proven ability to deliver efficient, compliant, and value-driven operations.
  • The candidate should have strong technical expertise across procurement planning, market analysis, vendor due diligence, competitive tendering, contract development, commitment review, and logistics coordination. Confidence in leading vendor negotiations and securing favourable terms is essential.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office is essential, and experience with procurement/logistics software is an added advantage.
  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate integrity, accountability, and responsiveness.

About our offer
The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from NGN19,666,488 gross per annum, depending on experience.
