Job Title: Business Relationship Officer

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Objectives

  • We are seeking a proactive and commercially driven Team Member to join the Merchant Department under our Merchant & Agency Directorate.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing relationships with merchant clients, supporting merchant onboarding, optimizing transaction performance, and driving adoption of our payment solutions across various sectors including retail, hospitality, healthcare, and services.
  • This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in merchant acquiring, payment solutions, or financial services, who are passionate about supporting digital transformation in commerce.

Duties and Responsibilities
Merchant Acquisition & Relationship Management:

  • Assist in identifying, onboarding, and managing merchants across various industries including SME, retail, and enterprise clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing merchants to drive retention, satisfaction, and transaction growth.
  • Educate merchants on platform features, usage optimization, and benefits of our digital payment solutions.

Product & Service Deployment:

  • Support the deployment and integration of payment solutions such as POS terminals, QR payments, online gateways, and SoftPOS.
  • Coordinate with internal technical and operations teams to ensure seamless implementation and issue resolution.
  • Monitor merchant usage trends and recommend tailored solutions or upgrades based on business needs.

Operational Support & Monitoring:

  • Track merchant transaction volumes, service performance, and compliance with SLAs.
  • Provide first-level support for merchant complaints, escalations, and service feedback.
  • Ensure proper documentation, KYC compliance, and due diligence for all merchant onboarding processes.

Reporting & Market Insights :

  • Maintain accurate records of merchant performance, engagement activities, and account health.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards to support strategic decision-making and performance reviews.
  • Stay updated on market trends, competitors, and evolving merchant needs.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 year of relevant experience in merchant acquisition, payment solutions, retail banking, or fintech environments.
  • Post NYSC experience.
