Job Title: Mechanical Engineer, Utilities & Baghouse
Location: Cote d’Ivoire
Job Summary
- Provide specialized mechanical engineering support for utility systems and baghouse (dust collection systems) within the plant.
- Ensure optimal performance, reliability, availability, and compliance with HSE standards of all utilities and air pollution control equipment, contributing to plant efficiency and environmental compliance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance & Operations:
- Execute and monitor maintenance activities for utility equipment (compressors, pumps, fans, blowers, chillers, etc.) and baghouse systems.
- Ensure efficient operation and reliability of dust collection systems (bag filters, pulse jet systems, ducting, ID fans).
- Receive maintenance schedules and coordinate spare parts requirements with the store.
Troubleshooting & Reliability:
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes of failures in utilities and baghouse systems, and recommend corrective actions.
- Analyse equipment performance, track failures, and propose improvements to increase reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment history, maintenance interventions, and costs.
Technical Support & Improvement:
- Provide technical guidance and supervision to technicians during maintenance and repair activities.
- Participate in optimization projects for utilities consumption (energy, compressed air, water) and dust emission control.
- Recommend upgrades or modifications to improve system performance and environmental compliance.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and maintenance records.
- Ensure all shifts comply with documentation, reporting, and follow-up requirements.
HSE & Compliance;
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, environmental standards, and dust emission regulations.
- Enforce safe work practices and accident prevention procedures.
- Monitor baghouse performance to ensure emissions meet regulatory and company standards.
General Responsibilities
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Mechanical Manager
QSE Responsibilities:
- Know and fully apply Dangote Cement's API, IMS, HSSE requirements, policies, procedures.
- Take care of his own health and safety in the workplace and ensure that acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other people.
- Take appropriate measures to minimize risks to quality, health and the environment.
- Communicate any case of hazardous situation to the Top management or QSE representative.
- Engage in the QHSE system by organizing/participating to all mandatory training and awareness
- Propose and carry out improvement, corrective and/or preventive actions.
Education and Work Experience
- BSc +5 in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial environment (preferably cement or heavy industry).
- Experience with utility systems and baghouse/dust collection systems is mandatory.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of utility equipment (compressors, pumps, fans, air systems).
- Good expertise in baghouse systems, filtration, and dust emission control.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
- Familiarity with cement manufacturing processes is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and P&IDs.
- Good understanding of HSE regulations and environmental standards.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and TPM practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and team management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
