Job Summary

• The Laundry Attendant will be responsible for ensuring that all hospital linens, uniforms, and patients’ clothing are properly collected, cleaned, disinfected, ironed, and neatly stored or distributed.
• The role requires attention to hygiene standards, timeliness, and efficient handling of laundry to support patient care and hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, sort, and wash hospital linens, uniforms, and patient clothing.
• Operate washing machines, dryers, and ironing/pressing equipment safely.
• Ensure proper disinfection and stain removal in line with hospital hygiene standards.
• Fold, store, and distribute clean laundry to the appropriate hospital departments.
• Keep accurate records of laundry collection and distribution.
• Report any damaged or missing linens/uniforms to the supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the laundry area.
• Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.

Requirements

• Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent qualification.
• Prior experience as a Laundry Attendant, preferably in a healthcare setting, is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of laundry equipment and fabric care.
• Ability to work efficiently, follow instructions, and pay attention to detail.
• Good physical stamina and ability to lift or move loads as required.
• Strong sense of cleanliness, hygiene, and responsibility.
