We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Electrical and Mechanical Technician

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Contract
Reports to: M&E Engineer/ Supervisor

Job Summary

  • The Mechanical & Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems on construction sites.
  • The role ensures that all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) works are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with approved drawings and standards.

Key Responsibilities
Installation & Execution:

  • Install electrical systems (wiring, lighting, panels, conduits) and mechanical systems (HVAC, pumps, generators).
  • Execute MEP works in line with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in testing and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems.

Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions promptly.
  • Ensure all systems are functioning efficiently to avoid downtime.

Troubleshooting:

  • Identify electrical and mechanical faults using appropriate tools.
  • Provide quick and effective solutions to minimize disruptions on-site.
  • Escalate complex issues to engineers or supervisors when necessary.

Site Support & Coordination:

  • Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other technicians.
  • Support site operations to ensure smooth execution of MEP activities.
  • Coordinate with other trades to avoid clashes during installation.

Health, Safety & Compliance (HSE):

  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations on-site.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.

Quality Assurance;

  • Ensure all installations meet required quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct checks to ensure proper alignment, fittings, and functionality.
  • Rectify defects and ensure proper finishing of works.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain records of maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Report daily activities and issues to the supervisor.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports when required.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timely completion of installation and maintenance tasks
  • Reduction in equipment downtime and faults
  • Compliance with HSE standards
  • Quality of installation and minimal rework
  • Response time to technical issues

Qualifications & Requirements

  • OND/HND or Technical Certification in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 2–5 years’ experience in MEP works within construction or facility management
  • Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, HVAC systems, and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

  • Practical hands-on technical ability
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision

Work Environment:

  • Primarily site-based work
  • Requires physical activity and adherence to strict safety standards.
