We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Superintendent - Production, Assembly, Quality Control and Supply Chain

Location: Onitsha, Anambra
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Superintendent will oversee end-to-end operations across plastic production (injection/blow molding), assembly processes, supply chain coordination, and quality control.
  • The role is responsible for ensuring efficient production output, availability of materials, strict quality compliance, and continuous process improvement in line with company standards.

Responsibilities
Production Management (Plastic & Steel):

  • Supervise daily operations of injection molding and blow molding.
  • Ensure machines (e.g., molding machines, crushers, extruders, cutting and welding machines) operate efficiently.
  • Monitor and reduce machine downtime, material wastage, and energy consumption.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved in line with planning schedules.
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with engineering teams.

Assembly Operations:

  • Oversee assembly of finished plastic and steel products (e.g., household items, industrial components, fabricated parts).
  • Ensure correct component fitting, finishing, and packaging standards.
  • Monitor assembly line efficiency and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Ensure adherence to product specifications and customer requirements.

Supply Chain & Inventory Management:

  • Coordinate procurement and ensure timely availability of raw materials (e.g., resins, polymers, steel sheets, additives).
  • Supervise inventory control of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
  • Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure proper storage and dispatch.
  • Minimize material shortages, overstocking, and wastage.

Quality Control & Assurance:

  • Enforce strict quality checks on incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
  • Monitor product parameters such as weight, thickness, strength, and finishing.
  • Investigate defects such as overweight products, cracks, deformities, or weld failures, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain proper quality documentation and reporting systems.
  • Enforce compliance with factory safety standards, especially around high-temperature plastic machines.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE (gloves, helmets, goggles, safety boots, etc.).
  • Conduct routine safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Promote safe handling of materials and equipment.

Team Leadership & Performance Management:

  • Supervise operators, technicians, quality inspectors, and warehouse staff.
  • Provide coaching, training, and skill development for team members.
  • Enforce discipline and adherence to operational procedures.
  • Evaluate staff performance and recommend improvements.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement:

  • Prepare daily and weekly reports on production output, downtime, quality issues, and material usage.
  • Analyze operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and operational efficiency.
  • Implement best practices in lean manufacturing and waste reduction.

Job Specification
Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years’ hands-on experience in:
    • Plastic manufacturing (injection/blow molding)
    • Steel fabrication or metal works
    • Supply chain or inventory management
    • Quality control in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role is an added advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of injection molding machines, molds, and processing parameters.
  • Familiarity with steel fabrication tools (cutting, bending, welding).
  • Understanding of production planning and inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of quality control techniques and measurement tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production and quality issues.
