Job Title: Internal Control Manager

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Job Summary

  • An Internal Control Manager in the hospitality sector safeguards company assets, ensures compliance with brand standards and statutory regulations, and mitigates risks across food, beverage, and accommodation operations.
  • Key duties include auditing cash handling, inventory management (kitchen/minibar), and procurement, alongside improving operational efficiency and reporting findings to management.

Key Responsibilities and Job Description

  • Audit & Risk Assessment:Perform regular, risk-based internal audits (financial and operational) to identify gaps and potential fraud in departments like Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Purchasing.
  • Operational Compliance:Ensure hotels adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), brand standards, and local regulatory laws (tax, data protection).
  • Asset & Inventory Control:Oversee the inventory management process for food, beverage, housekeeping supplies, and fixed assets, performing spot checks to prevent waste or theft.
  • Financial & Revenue Assurance:Review daily reconciliations of cash, credit card transactions, and POS systems to ensure all income is accurately recorded and banked.
  • Process Improvement:Analyze operational workflows to streamline procedures and enhance efficiency without negatively impacting guest experience.
  • Reporting & Action Tracking:Prepare detailed, data-driven reports on audit findings, track control failures, and enforce remediation plans to ensure compliance.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Education:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Experience:5+ years in internal controls, audit, or finance, preferably in a multi-property hospitality setting.
  • Competencies:Strong knowledge of accounting, inventory control processes, and internal control frameworks (COSO).
  • Skills:High-level analytical skills, proficiency in hotel POS/accounting systems, and strong communication skills to influence staff.
