Job Title: Managing Director - Asset Management

Job Objective(s)

  • To provide strategic leadership and direction in driving growth, profitability, and sustainable performance of the Asset Management Company, while ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and value creation for clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement the company’s strategic plans and objectives.
  • Lead and manage all operations to ensure profitability, growth, and sustainability.
  • Oversee the formulation and execution of investment strategies and policies.
  • Drive innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the business.
  • Supervise portfolio management teams to ensure optimal asset allocation and performance.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust strategies to maximize returns and minimize risk.
  • Approve key investment decisions in line with company policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and performance reporting.
  • Ensure effective risk management, cost control, and corporate governance practices.
  • Present periodic performance reports to the Board and key stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional and individual investors.
  • Representing the company in strategic meetings, industry forums, and regulatory engagements.
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and retention through excellent service delivery.
  • Ensure full compliance with SEC, CBN, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Uphold ethical business practices and promote transparency across operations.
  • Ensure accurate reporting, disclosures, and audit readiness.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing executive team.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional excellence.
  • Oversee succession planning and staff development initiatives.

KPIs

  • Financial Reporting Accuracy – Ensure ≥ 99.5% accuracy in financial and operational reports prepared for
  • management review and decision-making.
  • Financial Reporting Timeliness – Achieve 100% on-time submission of internal management and regulatory reports.
  • Account Reconciliation Oversight – Maintain ≥ 99.5% accuracy by supervising reconciliation of all accounts and transactions.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Ensure 100% compliance with SEC, NSE, CSCS, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Internal Control Effectiveness – Achieve > 90% effectiveness in internal control implementation and monitoring.
  • Risk Management Effectiveness – Maintain > 90% effectiveness in identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks.
  • Financial & Performance Analysis – Ensure > 90% accuracy in financial, operational, and market analysis used for management decisions.
  • Budgeting Accuracy – Achieve > 90% alignment of departmental budgets and forecasts with actual performance.
  • Forecasting Accuracy – Maintain > 80% accuracy in business forecasts and performance projections.
  • Operational Efficiency – Ensure processing of accounts payable and receivable within < 5 days.
  • Financial Close Process – Complete month-end and quarter-end closing activities within < 10 days.
  • Profitability & Liquidity – Support achievement of profitability targets and ensure liquidity ratios are maintained as directed by the Managing Director.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Maintain strong relationships with regulators, investors, and stakeholders, with >90% satisfaction feedback.
  • Team Leadership & Development – Maintain employee satisfaction at > 80% and achieve > 80% score in staff development initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in securities trading, investment banking, asset management, or related fields, with at least 3 - 5 years in a senior executive or leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field. An MBA or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CIS, SEC-recognized certifications) is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the Nigerian capital market landscape and regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing P&L, and achieving business growth.

  • CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst
  • ACCA/ICAN (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants / Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria)
  • (Certification in institute Stockbrokers is a must).
