Role Overview
- The Business Development Executive will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities to drive revenue growth and expand market share.
- Unlike a traditional sales role, this position focuses heavily on strategic partnerships, long-term client acquisition, and market entry initiatives within the interior design, construction, and real estate sectors.
- The ideal candidate is a proactive deal-maker with strong relationship-building skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to identify untapped opportunities in both residential and commercial segments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development:
- Identify and penetrate new market segments including luxury real estate developers, hospitality groups, corporate offices, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Develop and execute a structured business development plan aligned with the company’s revenue and growth objectives.
- Lead negotiations for bulk supply agreements, project-based contracts, and exclusive partnerships.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor movements, and emerging opportunities to stay ahead of the market.
Partnership & Account Management:
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with architects, interior designers, contractors, and procurement firms.
- Establish a formal referral and commission structure for strategic partners.
- Manage key accounts with high revenue potential, ensuring repeat business and client loyalty.
- Represent the company at industry expos, trade fairs, and networking events.
Lead Generation & Pipeline Management:
- Proactively source leads through research, cold outreach, networking, and digital channels.
- Qualify leads based on project size, budget, and alignment with company offerings.
- Maintain a robust sales pipeline and provide regular forecasts to management.
- Convert qualified leads into closed deals through consultative selling and tailored proposals.
Proposal & Contract Management:
- Prepare and present detailed proposals, project quotations, and commercial bids.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules while protecting margin targets.
- Ensure all contracts and agreements are documented and compliant with company policies.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Sales & Marketing Specialist to align business development efforts with digital campaigns and brand messaging.
- Coordinate with inventory and logistics teams to ensure product availability for large-scale projects.
- Provide market feedback to management regarding pricing, product demand, and competitive intelligence.
Performance Tracking & Reporting:
- Track all business development activities, conversion rates, and revenue contributions.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on pipeline status, partnership growth, and market feedback.
- Use data to refine targeting strategies and improve close rates.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in business development, key account management, or B2B sales, preferably within interior solutions, construction materials, real estate, or luxury goods.
- Proven track record of securing high-value contracts and building strategic partnerships.
- Strong understanding of the Lagos real estate and interior design ecosystem is highly desirable.
- Excellent negotiation, proposal writing, and presentation skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet aggressive targets.
- Proficiency in CRM tools, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
