Benek Engineering Company Limited (BECL) is an indigenous onshore and offshore engineering contracting company headquartered in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, with an overseas office in Houston, Texas. Incorporated in 1984, BECL provides highly skilled project management, maintenance, and construction services to the Oil and Gas industry. Our services include pipeline construction, wellhead supply/installation/maintenance, plant installation, inspection services, non-destructive testing (NDT), heavy duty equipment maintenance, shutdown and turnaround management, slickline and e-line services, and pressure control. BECL serves major IOCs including Shell, AGIP, Chevron, NNPC, Total, ExxonMobil/SEPLAT, and Addax. We are a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Corrosion Association (NICA), Nigerian Institute of Welding (NIW), Oil & Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), and the American Welding Society (AWS). BECL is also an authorised distributor of XCMG cranes and forklifts.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Safety Officer

Ref: BECL/2026/SO-007
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers State (with deployment to field locations including Bonny, Brass, Forcados, and onshore flow stations across the Niger Delta).

Role Summary

• Ensure the implementation and enforcement of BECL QHSE policies across all office and field operations.
• Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training for personnel working on oil and gas sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor compliance with BECL HSE Management System and client HSE requirements.
• Conduct regular HSE audits, inspections, and workplace assessments at office and field locations.
• Perform risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and Permit to Work (PTW) administration.
• Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare investigation reports with corrective actions.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, emergency drills, and safety training sessions.
• Maintain HSE records, statistics (LTI, TRIR), and regulatory documentation.
• Liaise with DPR, NOSDRA, and other regulatory bodies on safety compliance.
• Support emergency response planning and execution.

Minimum Requirements

• B.Sc / HND / OND in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Safety Officer on oil and gas project sites.
• Strong practical knowledge of Nigerian oil and gas safety regulations (DPR, EGASPIN).
• Proficiency in incident investigation methodologies (e.g., ICAM, TapRoot).
• Ability to conduct and document risk assessments, JSA, and PTW procedures.
• Completion of NYSC (mandatory).

Added Advantage:

• NEBOSH IGC or International Diploma.
• ISPON membership or certification.
• ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 Internal Auditor certification.
• HSE Level 3 certification.
• First Aid / Fire Safety training certification.
• Experience on Shell, AGIP, Chevron, or Total HSE management systems.

Remuneration
Competitive and commensurate with experience.
