Benek Engineering Company Limited (BECL) is an indigenous onshore and offshore engineering contracting company headquartered in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, with an overseas office in Houston, Texas. Incorporated in 1984, BECL provides highly skilled project management, maintenance, and construction services to the Oil and Gas industry. Our services include pipeline construction, wellhead supply/installation/maintenance, plant installation, inspection services, non-destructive testing (NDT), heavy duty equipment maintenance, shutdown and turnaround management, slickline and e-line services, and pressure control. BECL serves major IOCs including Shell, AGIP, Chevron, NNPC, Total, ExxonMobil/SEPLAT, and Addax. We are a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Corrosion Association (NICA), Nigerian Institute of Welding (NIW), Oil & Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), and the American Welding Society (AWS). BECL is also an authorised distributor of XCMG cranes and forklifts.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Workshop Supervisor

Ref: ECL/2026/WS-009
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers State (with deployment to field locations including Bonny, Brass, Forcados, and onshore flow stations across the Niger Delta).

Role Summary

  • Supervise and coordinate all workshop activities including wellhead equipment refurbishment, pipeline and piping fabrication, mechanical assembly, and general workshop operations.
  • Ensure quality workmanship, safety compliance, and efficient useof workshop resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily workshop operations: wellhead materials reconditioning, piping spool fabrication, mechanical assembly and repairs.
  • Plan and assign work to workshop technicians, welders, machinists, and fitters
  • Ensure all workshop activities comply with BECL QHSE policies and relevant codes (AWS, ASME, API).
  • Inspect work-in-progress and completed jobs for quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Manage workshop tools, equipment, consumables, and spare parts inventory.
  • Coordinate with Stores/Materials Manager for timely material availability.
  • Maintain workshop equipment (lathes, milling machines, welding machines, hydraulic presses, cranes) in serviceable condition.
  • Prepare workshop reports on job status, material usage, and manpower deployment.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.Eng / HND / OND in Mechanical Engineering, or relevant technical trade with Trade Test (Grade I or II).
  • Minimum of 8 years hands-on experience in an oil and gas workshop or fabrication yard.
  • Demonstrated competence in welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW), machining, fitting, and mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read and work from fabrication drawings, isometrics, and weld maps.
  • Strong knowledge of wellhead equipment, valve types, and pipeline materials.
  • Completion of NYSC (mandatory, or Trade Test equivalent for non-degree holders).

Added Advantage:

  • AWS/CSWIP welding inspector certification.
  • Crane and forklift operation competency.
  • XCMG equipment familiarity (BECL is an authorised distributor).
  • Experience in wellhead valve refurbishment (Cameron, FMC, Kvaerner).

Competitive and commensurate with experience.
