We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary

  • The Finance Manager owns the firm's financial operations end-to-end, from day-to-day bookkeeping and client invoicing to monthly management accounts, payroll, tax filings, and direct financial reporting to the Founder.
  • You will manage operating, USD, client trust, and reserve accounts, and work alongside our external ICAN-certified accountants on annual returns and statutory filings.
  • This is a hands-on, sole-finance-person role at this stage. The firm's financial integrity rests with you.

Responsibilities

  • Issuing client invoices in NGN and USD via relevant softwares, in compliance with VAT requirements
  • Managing the client trust account in line with AML policy and NBA Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts (operating, USD, trust, reserve)
  • Processing monthly payroll, PAYE, pension, and HMO premiums via relevant softwares
  • Filing monthly PAYE returns to FCT-IRS and VAT returns to FIRS
  • Maintaining WHT credit note records - issuing to clients, collecting from vendors
  • Preparing monthly management accounts (P&L, cash flow, key metrics) for the Founder
  • Preparing the annual budget and tracking actuals against it
  • Maintaining the chart of accounts and financial records to audit-ready standard

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years finance or accounting experience in Nigeria
  • ICAN qualification, or demonstrably on track toward ICAN membership
  • Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax obligations: VAT, WHT, PAYE, Pension Reform Act 2014
  • Practical fluency in Zoho Books or QuickBooks; experience with Nigerian payroll systems is an advantage
  • High numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and the discipline to reconcile cleanly every month

Strongly preferred:

  • Prior experience in a law firm, financial services, or premium professional services environment
  • Direct experience managing a client trust account
  • Experience preparing management accounts in a multi-currency context.
