Job Overview

  • Our client is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Financial Accountant to join their growing team.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the organisation's financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights that support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports in compliance with IFRS and Nigerian GAAP standards.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial projections to support organisational planning and decision-making.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage liquidity, and ensure the company meets its financial obligations in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and manage both internal and external audit processes, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Ensure full compliance with tax laws and regulatory requirements including VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, and statutory filings with FIRS and other regulatory bodies.
  • Analyse financial data and present findings with actionable recommendations to senior management.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Process payroll, manage staff expense claims, and maintain accurate financial documentation.
  • Liaise with banks, auditors, tax consultants, vendors, and financial institutions on behalf of the organisation.
  • Support the procurement process by reviewing contracts, purchase orders, and vendor invoices for financial accuracy.
  • Utilise accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) efficiently for all financial transactions and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (BSc.) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field — required.
  • Master's Degree (MBA, MSc. Finance, or related) — an added advantage.
  • Professional certification: ICAN, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent — added advantage.
  • Experience: 5+ years in progressive professional accounting experience, preferably within the IT or technology sector, with at least 2 years in a Senior or Lead position.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the IT or technology sector (understanding SaaS metrics, R&D tax credits, or intellectual property valuation) is an advantage.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of financial management, reporting, and regulatory compliance. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, financial modelling, data analysis and AI-driven financial tools.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or similar ERP tools).
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, IFRS, and financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, problem-solving skills, a high level of integrity, confidentiality, professional ethics, strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Within 90 Days:

  • Reduce the Accounts Receivable (AR) Days.
  • Financial systems roadmap developed and implementation begun.
  • Current state assessment completed with priority recommendations.
  • Monthly reporting cadence and KPIs established.

Salary
N300,000 - N450,000 monthly.
