Job Title: Sonographer
Location: Benin City, Edo

Job Summary
- The sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring medical conditions.
- The role involves patient care, equipment operation, image acquisition, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely results.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Preparation:
- Receive and review physician requests for ultrasound procedures
- Explain procedures clearly to patients and obtain informed consent
- Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations (positioning, gel application, etc.)
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and safety at all times
Diagnostic Imaging:
Perform a variety of ultrasound scans, including:
- Abdominal
- Pelvic
- Obstetric and gynecological
- Vascular
- Small parts (thyroid, breast, scrotum, etc.)
- Capture high-quality diagnostic images and videos
- Recognize and document normal and abnormal findings
Equipment Handling & Maintenance:
- Operate ultrasound machines and related imaging equipment efficiently
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance of equipment
- Report faults or technical issues promptly
Documentation & Reporting:
- Accurately document findings and prepare preliminary reports
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of images
- Maintain patient records in compliance with medical and legal standards
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare staff
- Communicate urgent or critical findings promptly
- Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions where necessary
Infection Control & Safety:
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Follow radiation safety guidelines (where applicable)
Professional Development:
- Stay updated with advancements in sonography and imaging techniques
- Participate in training, workshops, and continuing education programs.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Sonography, Radiography, or Medical Imaging
Certification & Licensing:
- Relevant professional certification.
- Valid practicing license (as required by local regulatory bodies)
Experience:
- A minimum of years of experience in a clinical setting (preferred)
- Experience in obstetric and abdominal scanning is an advantage
