T2 Mobile (Formerly 9mobile) is a Nigerian private limited liability company. EMTS acquired a Unified Access Service License from the Nigerian Communications Commission in 2007. The License enables EMTS provide Fixed Telephony (wired or wireless), Digital Mobile Services, International Gateway Services and National/Regional Long Distance Services in addition to spectrum assignments in the 900 and 1800 MHz bands.

Job Title: Specialist, Unified Infrastructure

Location: Abuja

Job Summary

  • Responsible for the support & management of a multi-vendor stack of Infrastructure platforms, integrated to deliver business services to agreed service levels.

Roles and Responsibilities
Operational:

  • Manage and maintain computing systems, including servers, storage, network, virtualisation, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, manage, troubleshoot, resolve and secure virtualisation platforms such as VMware, KVM, OpenShift and Kubernetes.
  • Set up, manage, troubleshoot and resolve VMs and container workloads.
  • Install, configure, manage, troubleshoot, resolve and secure Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), EulerOS, and HP-UX.
  • Manage, troubleshoot, resolve and secure storage infrastructure, including SAN, NAS, DAS, and SDS, as well as FC & Ethernet storage switches.
  • Develop and implement backup, disaster recovery and business continuity plans using Commvault.
  • Monitor and ensure high availability, scalability, and security of computers and storage Infrastructure.
  • Monitor, manage, troubleshoot, resolve and secure server hardware and software issues of OEMs such as HPE, Dell, and Huawei.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of the infrastructure with business applications.
  • Conduct regular maintenance, patches, upgrades and security assessments to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies. Create and manage system tools for scripting and process automations, and oversee capacity planning.
  • Provide out-of-hours support and guidance to the infrastructure platform support team as needed.
  • Deliver IaaS and PaaS services according to company standards, including security baselines and industry best practice approaches.
  • Continuously evaluates the design, functionality, performance and security of supported business applications and makes thoughtful, significant recommendations for Infrastructure improvements/retirements.
  • Ensure transition and support documentation is fit for purpose, to a high standard and kept current.
  • Carry out other activities as instructed by the Manager, Unified Infrastructure.

Educational Qualification and Experience

  • First Degree or equivalent in Computer Science/IT, Engineering or a related or relevant discipline
  • Five (5) + years of combined Telecom/IT/applications management experience in high-impact role(s) with a clear progression in levels of responsibilities
  • Experience managing a complex stack of multi-vendor Infrastructure platforms at the desired scale, preferably in a Telco or Tier 1 banking environment.
  • Expert hands-on knowledge of:
    • Linux/Unix OS, Compute technologies (servers, storage, virtualisation, VMs, containers & cloud)
    • Core operating system constructs such as memory, processor, and I/O (disk and network)
    • Storage technologies (SAN, NAS, DAS, SDS) and managing key storage protocols/switches like FC, ISCSI, FCoE, NFS and SMB/CIFS
    • Tiering of common storage technologies and interfaces like NVMe SSDs, SAS and SATA
    • Commvault for backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
    • Scripting languages (e.g. Python, Bash)
  • Proven professional experience and understanding of Storage, Network, Database, Security and Software Defined Technologies
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, quick-learning, and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Sound knowledge of internal business processes, leading/emerging technologies, and developments within the mobile telecommunications industry and related ecosystems
  • Self-starter with good people management, exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills, a Strong can-do attitude and aptitude to drive innovation
  • Ability to lead, influence and gain the confidence and respect of senior executives and functional leadership
  • Ability to cope and deliver at satisfactorily high levels when under intense pressure
  • Strong change management skills
  • Industry certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer, VMware VCP, CCNA) are a plus.
