Role Summary
- The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic financial decisions within the organization.
- The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience working in project-based environments such as oil & gas or civil engineering.
- The ideal candidate will have solid experience in financial management, reporting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance, with the ability to collaborate across departments including operations, procurement, and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Manage general ledger activities, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and payroll processes.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Monitor project costs and provide financial insights on project performance.
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
- Ensure accurate tax filings and liaise with regulatory authorities where required.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to ensure cost control and financial discipline.
- Prepare management reports and present financial insights to senior leadership.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is required.
- 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in oil & gas or engineering sectors.
- At least 2–3 years in a senior accounting or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with project accounting and cost control in a project-driven environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
