Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Lagos
About the role
- We are seeking a Project Engineer to coordinate the technical and operational aspects of our diving projects on a flexible, project-by-project basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise diving project operations from mobilisation to demobilisation
- Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and dive plans in line with IMCA and client standards
- Liaise with clients, port authorities, and regulatory bodies (NIMASA, NUPRC) for project approvals and compliance
- Manage vessel, equipment, and personnel logistics for both onshore and offshore campaigns
- Monitor project progress against schedule and budget; produce regular status reports for management
- Conduct pre-dive and post-dive briefings and ensure all safety protocols are strictly observed
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, survey data, and underwater inspection reports
- Support tender preparation including scope of work, cost estimation, and technical write-ups
- Maintain accurate project documentation including daily logs, timesheets, and equipment records
- Identify technical problems on site and coordinate prompt corrective action.
Required qualifications
- B.Sc. / B.Eng. in Mechanical, Civil, Marine, or Petroleum Engineering (or related field)
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in offshore, marine, or underwater engineering projects
- Solid understanding of diving operations (SCUBA / surface-supplied)
- Familiarity with IMCA guidelines and offshore HSE standards
- Proficiency in MS Office; working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar
- Valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Preferred skills:
- Professional diving certification (CMAS, PADI, or equivalent) is an advantage
- Experience working in the Niger Delta or Lagos coastal environment
- Knowledge of NUPRC/NIMASA regulatory requirements
- Project management certification (PMP or PRINCE2)
- Experience with ROV inspection or subsea pipeline work.
Working arrangement:
- The scope of work and deliverables are structured around active project phases
- Offshore site visits will be required periodically; relevant offshore survival certification must be maintained
- Mix of office-based work (Lagos mainland or island) and site/vessel attendance as required
- Candidates currently engaged in other consultancy or employment are welcome to apply, provided there is no conflict of interest with upstream oil and gas operations.
