Job Title: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The Role

• The Chief Operating Officer will be the engine behind the bank's operational excellence. You will be responsible for all internal operations, technology delivery, process optimisation, customer experience infrastructure, and cross-functional performance. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution.

Key Responsivilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations across all business functions including technology, service delivery, and support
• Design and execute scalable operational frameworks that support the bank's growth ambitions
• Drive digital transformation initiatives and ensure technology infrastructure is robust and future-ready
• Champion process efficiency through automation, data, and continuous improvement methodologies
• Ensure superior customer experience across all digital and physical touchpoints
• Build and lead a high-performing operations leadership team
• Collaborate with the CEO and executive team on strategic planning and execution
• Own operational risk management, business continuity, and vendor management
• Ensure regulatory compliance across all operational activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; MBA required with a minimum of 15 years' experience in banking operations, financial services, or technology-led organisations
• At least 5 years in an executive leadership role with P&L or operational accountability
• Demonstrated experience leading digital transformation in a financial services context
• Strong technology orientation with the ability to engage deeply with product and engineering teams
• Proven ability to build, lead, and inspire diverse, high-performing teams
• Deep understanding of the Nigerian banking regulatory environment
• Exceptional strategic thinking, decision-making, and communication skills
