One Health Resilience Initiative (OHRI) is a registered Nigerian nonprofit organization (CAC/IT/8929397) formally incorporated in 2025. OHRI is dedicated to strengthening the wellbeing of people, animals, and the environment through integrated action. We work at the intersection of public health, climate change, environmental protection, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), biodiversity, mental wellbeing, systems strengthening, and community empowerment across Adamawa, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Taraba and Abuja FCT.

Our mission is to build resilient communities and ecosystems through integrated solutions that link human, animal, and environmental health. As a young and growing organization, we are recruiting a pioneer cohort of skilled volunteers to fill critical roles across our organizational structure. These are unpaid volunteer positions designed for individuals seeking hands-on experience in the development sector, with clear pathways to professional certificates, networking, and future paid employment as organizational funding grows.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: State Finance & Admin Officer

Locations: Abuja (FCT), Adamawa, Jigawa, Gombe, and Kano
Job type: Volunteer
Commitment: Full-time, 3–6 months (renewable)
Unit: State Team Structure

Job Description 

  • Manages state-level petty cash, field expenses, administrative logistics, and financial documentation to support smooth state operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage state-level petty cash, process small payments, and maintain cash books.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly expense reports with complete supporting documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and procurement procedures.
  • Support logistics for state-level workshops, meetings, and field activities.
  • Maintain state office files, asset registers, and administrative records.
  • Liaise with HQ Finance Unit for fund requests, retirements, and reconciliations.
  • Support the State Coordinator in budget monitoring and expenditure tracking.

General Information About the Volunteer Program

  • Nature of Engagement: Unpaid volunteer service (non-remunerative).
  • Duration: Minimum commitment of 3–6 months; renewable based on performance and organizational need.
  • Locations: Adamawa State (Headquarters), Gombe State, Jigawa State, Kano State, Abuja FCT, and remote/virtual options for select roles.
  • Work Schedule: Full-time (5+ days/week), part-time (2–4 days/week), or weekend-only, depending on role and agreement.
  • Start Date: Rolling basis — shortlisted candidates will be contacted individually for onboarding.
  • Reporting Structure: Each volunteer reports to their respective Unit Manager or State Coordinator, with overall oversight from the Executive Director.

Requirements
Specific Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND qualifcation in Accounting, Business Administration, or Public Administration.
  • 1–2 years of experience in finance, administration, or office management.
  • Basic bookkeeping skills and proficiency in Excel.
  • High integrity and ability to handle cash responsibly.
  • Commitment of 3–6 months minimum.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be a Nigerian citizen or legal resident.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Strong commitment to OHRI's mission, vision, and core values (Resilience, Inclusivity, Stewardship, Integrity, Evidence, Collaboration).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Hausa or local languages is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively in multicultural teams.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations within assigned states, including rural and underserved communities.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, email, internet); advanced digital skills required for technical roles.
  • Must possess a valid means of identification (National ID, Voter's Card, Driver's License, or International Passport).
