Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. Job Title: Finance Coordinator

About the Role
- GAIN is seeking to recruit a Finance Coordinator to provide support and coordinate the effective financial management of projects and organizational operations.
- The coordinator ensures accurate financial reporting, budget monitoring, compliance with donor and organizational policies, and strong internal controls.
- The Finance Coordinator works closely with program teams and management to ensure financial resources are managed efficiently, transparently, and in alignment with approved budgets.
- This role will be offered on two (2) years fixed term contract, subject to securing the award and availability of funding and will be based in Abuja.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor programme expenditures against approved budgets and provide regular variance analysis.
- Ensure all programme costs are coded and accurately recorded.
- In partnership with the finance manager, prepare donor financial reports in compliance with funding agreements.
- Coordinate timely submission of financial information to the Finance Manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate posting of transactions in the accounting system.
- Coordinate the month-end and year-end closing processes for submission to the Finance Manager.
- Ensure all GAIN Nigeria bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly.
- Ensure programme cash flow forecasting and monitoring and track fund utilization and ensure timely availability of funds for program implementation.
- Work with the Finance Officers in maintaining proper documentation and audit-ready financial records.
- Review and process all programme payments in line with organizational policies.
- Coordinate internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
- Maintain strong internal controls over financial processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and donor requirements.
- Perform the financial review of purchase requests, purchase orders, and payment requests to ensure compliance with GAIN policies and procedures and donors and contracts requirements.
About You
- The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Nigerian tax regulations, including Companies Income Tax, VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE, and other statutory requirements.
- They should have proven experience in a similar role, supporting finance and programme operations across an entire organisation preferably within an international NGO environment.
- Hands-on experience managing donor-funded grants (such as BMZ, BMGF, DFID, USAID, EU, etc.) is desirable.
- The candidate should confidently manage a high-volume, complex workload while demonstrating strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- You should be comfortable making decisions, delegating tasks effectively, communicating clearly both verbally and in writing and leadership capabilities are key, including the ability to supervise, motivate, coach, and mentor team members.
- You should have excellent computer skills, with advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and accounting tools such as QuickBooks, Navision, or similar software is essential, with familiarity in Navision considered an advantage.
Working Conditions:

- Successful candidates will be based in one of GAIN’s country offices and must have the existing right to live and work within a reasonably commutable distance of the relevant city / cities in which the role is advertised.

What We Offer
The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from N14,550,552 gross per annum, depending on experience.
