Quintessence Nigeria Limited was founded in 1975 and initially began business with the sale of state-of-the-art Hi-Fi audio equipment and furniture. In the early 80’s, the business shifted its focus by creating a cultural platform to showcase the talent of local artists, artisans, musicians and fashion designers. Thus, commenced our ethos to promote local content and create an enabling environment for cultivating local craftsmanship and creativity. We are currently at Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos State after relocating from the old Falomo Shopping complex. Quintessence, is still committed to offering artists several opportunities and advocating for the advancement of the sector for socioeconomic development in Nigeria and Africa.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, and supporting budget preparation.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for maintaining financial integrity in a creative retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Recordkeeping:

  • Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Process and record daily financial transactions accurately.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare periodic financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Provide regular financial reports to management and assist in strategic planning.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
  • Support forecasting activities and variance analysis to inform business decisions.

Compliance & Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, accounting standards, and company policies.
  • Liaise with external auditors and prepare necessary documentation during audits.

General Administrative Support:

  • Collaborate with team members across departments to support financial planning and operations.
  • Manage invoicing, payments, and expense claims efficiently.

Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Preferably a First class or Second Class upper graduate
  • Minimum 3 years proven experience in accounting roles, preferably within a Premium retail or Finance industry environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Odoo) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and/or Google Workspace Suite.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and tax laws.

Personal Attributes:

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Good communication skills to explain complex financial data in clear terms.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: N250,000 to N350,000 monthly
  • Additional benefits include health insurance, professional development opportunities, etc.
