Job Title: Operator

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The ideal candidate will monitor, control, and operate plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous power production.
  • The role involves responding to alarms, performing routine checks, and supporting maintenance activities while adhering to operational and safety procedures.
  • This role is suited for professionals with Mechanical & Maintenance experience within the Oil and gas servicing sector who can effectively minimize downtime and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate power plant equipment – rotating, static, auxiliary equipment, etc.
  • Control power-generating equipment using control boards or semi-automatic equipment.
  • Take regulatory action, including preventive/corrective maintenance strategies, where required, based on readings from charts, meters, and gauges at established intervals.
  • Understand basic control of open/close valves, switches in sequence to start or shut down auxiliary units, including black start procedures & contingency planning.
  • Understand basic concepts of equipment lifecycle, asset registers, & follow instructions in recording operational data, logs, or reports.
  • Understand project management fundamentals (scope, schedule, cost), assist in documentation, task execution, and maintain parts & tools inventory under supervision
  • Undertake any other task or duties as assigned
  • Safety compliance

Requirements

  • BSC/HND in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Power Plant Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Engineering field and the power industry.
  • Technical knowledge of power plant operations & equipment.
  • Technical knowledge of process optimization & system performance improvement
  • Problem-solving, fault analysis & root cause diagnostics
  • Knowledge of the Nigerian Power Industry value chain
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to details
  • Knowledge of basic safety requirements & statutory norms
  • Expertise in calibration, testing, and commissioning of process instruments and analyzers
  • Professional certification - COREN/NCE added advantage.
