Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer

Location: Abuja (FCT) 
Sector: Manufacturing (Bottling)

Job Summary

  • The Lead Mechanical Engineer will oversee plant mechanical operations, ensuring optimal machine performance, minimal downtime, and continuous improvement across production processes.
  • This role involves leading maintenance activities, managing technicians, and driving efficiency in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead machine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime
  • Analyse mechanical and production data to improve plant performance
  • Manage repair activities, modifications, and maintenance planning
  • Supervise and evaluate maintenance technicians and provide ongoing training
  • Ensure availability and proper management of mechanical spare parts inventory
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for technical support and emergency services
  • Maintain and analyse machine breakdown records to reduce repair time
  • Develop contingency plans for equipment reliability and obsolescence management
  • Support production in implementing technical changes for new products/processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and maintain mechanical data systems.

Requirements

  • B.Eng / B.Sc / HND in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • Professional certifications (e.g., COREN, NSE) are required
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Strong experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and process optimization
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage maintenance operations
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
