We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Agronomist

Location: Igbogila, Yewa North, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • Working with the Farm Manger to oversee and manage crop production, soil science, and agronomic practices for a diverse range of crops, including tropical Plantain, Palm Trees, Cucumber, Greenhouse Bell Pepper, Tomatoes, Sweet Corn, and others.
  • Design and Prepare Strategic policy for the crop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draw out budget for the farms for the year and provide planning focus for each year.

Field Visits and Data Collection:

  • Regularly visit to farm fields to collect soil samples, assess crop health, identify pest and disease issues, and monitor crop development stages.

Crop Management:

  • Ensure optimal crop yields, quality, and market readiness.
  • Develop customized crop management plans for farmers, including planting dates, monitor crop health,irrigation schedules, weed control methods, and harvest timing.

Crop Recommendation:

  • Advise farmers on suitable crop varieties based on local climate, soil conditions, market demand, and potential disease resistance.

Soil Science:

  • Conduct soil tests, analyze results, and recommend amendments.
  • Develop and implement soil conservation and fertility management plans.
  • Maintain soil health through sustainable practices.

Soil Analysis Interpretation:

  • Analyze soil test results to identify nutrient deficiencies and recommend appropriate fertilization strategies.

Training and Extension:

  • Conduct training workshops and field demonstrations for Staff on improved agronomic practices, including proper seed selection, pest management, and harvest techniques.

Research and Development:

  • Participate in research trials to evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, and pest management strategies.
  • Track crop yields, quality, and financial performance.
  • Prepare reports on crop health, soil conditions and agronomic activities.
  • Analyze data to inform decision-making.

Agronomic Practices:

  • Implement best practices for irrigation, drainage, and water management.
  • Oversee fertilizer application, crop rotation, and intercropping.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry certifications.

Requirements

  • B. Agric, HND (Agric, BSc Crop Protection).

Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 / month.
