We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, MTO and CTR;
  • Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work, and advice;
  • Undertaking feasibility studies to establish client’s requirements;
  • Performing risk and value management during construction;
  • Advising on procurement strategy;
  • Identifying, analyzing and developing responses to commercial risks;
  • Evaluate subcontractors’ proposals and establish optimum cost benchmark to achieve value for money;
  • Allocating work to subcontractors and overseeing their work at all stages of the construction;
  • Identifying gaps between BOQ and drawings, specifications and conditions of the contract and taking it for a logical closure;
  • Develop and establish project controls for monitoring and controlling costs throughout the project, identifying cost-saving opportunities;
  • Providing advice on contractual claims;
  • Analyzing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;
  • Develop project cost estimates, budgets and cash flow forecast with the aim of increasing efficiency in project cost control and maintaining historical cost data;
  • Effective cash management including timely application/certification/invoicing;
  • Identifying and costing change order, variations order and fluctuation claims;
  • Develop and agree valuation schedule (if not stated in the contract) and implement, identify variations order and prepare variation account/payment certificates and final accounts;
  • Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use;

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Must be a qualified Quantity Surveyor
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience
  • NIQS registered
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Must be computer literate with sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Project
  • Good IT skills with competency in relevant Surveying and Costing IT packages like PlanSwift
  • Excellent communication skills and good presentation and client skills.
