Job Title: Legal Officer

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Legal Officer to provide legal support and ensure the hotel operates in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • The ideal candidate will handle legal documentation, advise management on legal matters, and mitigate risks associated with business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to management on operational, contractual, and regulatory matters.
  • Draft, review, and manage contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, labor regulations, and industry standards.
  • Handle legal disputes, claims, and liaise with external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may affect hotel operations.
  • Support HR in handling disciplinary matters, employee contracts, and labor-related issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all legal matters.
  • Represent the organization in legal proceedings when required.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend measures to minimize legal exposure.
  • Provide guidance on corporate governance and compliance policies.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B); BL qualification and call to the Bar is required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant legal experience (hospitality or corporate experience is an advantage).
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian laws, labor regulations, and corporate governance.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple legal matters effectively.
