We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer - Construction

Location: Lagos

Job Purpose

  • The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for the planning, analysis, design, supervision, and coordination of structural engineering works for construction projects.
  • The role ensures that all structural designs and site executions comply with approved standards, project specifications, safety regulations, and quality requirements while supporting timely and cost-effective project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Structural Design & Analysis

  • Prepare and review structural designs, calculations, and drawings for buildings, bridges, steel structures, foundations, and other infrastructure works.
  • Conduct structural analysis and ensure adequacy, stability, and safety of proposed structures.
  • Review architectural and MEP drawings for structural coordination and compatibility.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Project Planning & Coordination:

  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and technical review meetings.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, quantity surveyors, consultants, and contractors.
  • Provide technical support and engineering solutions during project execution.
  • Review project specifications, method statements, and material submissions.

Site Supervision & Quality Control:

  • Supervise structural works on-site to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor construction activities including reinforcement works, concrete placement, steel fabrication, and erection.
  • Conduct inspections and ensure quality standards are maintained throughout execution.
  • Identify and resolve structural issues and technical challenges on-site.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure structural works comply with HSE regulations and safe construction practices.
  • Support risk assessments and implementation of safety measures during construction activities.
  • Ensure adherence to local and international engineering standards and building regulations.

Technical Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare technical reports, structural assessments, and engineering documentation.
  • Review shop drawings, as-built drawings, and design revisions.
  • Maintain proper records of structural calculations, inspections, and approvals.
  • Prepare progress reports and technical updates for management.

Material & Resource Management:

  • Review and approve structural materials for compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor material usage and recommend cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Support procurement activities related to structural materials and subcontractors.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Provide technical guidance and training where necessary.
  • Review engineering outputs to ensure accuracy and quality.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • B.Sc./B.Eng. in Civil or Structural Engineering with 8–10 years relevant experience in structural engineering and construction projects
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an added advantage
  • COREN registration and NSE membership preferred
  • Minimum of
  • Proficiency in structural design software such as ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAFE, SAP2000, AutoCAD, and Revit
  • Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and steel structure design
  • Good understanding of local and international building codes and standards
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills
